Excessive Credit Card surcharges Rebates

Hi,
We've all now heard of the new legislation to ban excessive surcharges on credit card transactions. This comes in to effect today 6th April 2013.
I was now wondering what the best approach is to claim back past charges, which have now clearly been made illegal. Also, what period of time can one realistically expect to be able to claim?
Only last month, I ended up paying a 2.5% credit card surcharge for a holiday booking online. This clearly fits withing the excessive charging category and I'd like to start the ball rolling on claiming some of this moeny back.
Anybody else started to think along these lines?
Perhaps MSE needs a new section in the Claims section.
Regards, David

If they are illegal now, this doesn't mean that they were illegal when you paid them in the past.I was now wondering what the best approach is to claim back past charges, which have now clearly been made illegal.
My realistic expectation is 0 years 0 months and 0 days. Also, what period of time can one realistically expect to be able to claim?
Firstly, you could have paid by a debit card, couldn't you?Only last month, I ended up paying a 2.5% credit card surcharge for a holiday booking online.
This clearly fits withing the excessive charging category
Secondly, how "clear" is it? It's not uncommon for companies to pay 2% for CC payments. If so, only 0.5% was really 'excessive'. Good luck with claiming them.0
