Saturday 6th/Sunday 7th April - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Well Im up early for work today, doing a whole days overtime to stop me from spending, as my bank account has gone awfully wrong the last few days! :( My list for today is;
  • Work overtime 9am-4pm at double pay
  • Load of washing and out to dry - already on :D
  • Have a LSD, just need to get 2 stamps
  • B/L/D from stores (Trying to eat up my cupboards before I move at the end of the month!)
I thinnkk thats about it! Have a lovely Saturday everyone! xx

    Hello

Thanks for starting the thread KatyAnn. I am also off to work, just 9-11 today though. Then back in tommorow for a very long day. 8.30-7 probably.

The sun is shining, which makes me think we might try and get a run down to the coast done, nearest beach is an hour, am sorely tempted. Cost would be petrol but nothing else.

18 days till OH gets paid, not wishing my life away at all obs :)

Am praying the business has a good day.

    Good luck all.

    Morning DFW-Jedis, :j

    Happy birthday La E: :bdaycake:

No work today. Yesterday my OH and I went hiking in the sunshine. It was awesome. Then we had a Chinese takeaway last night which wasn't very DFW....but it was the first takeaway we'd had in 5 months, so I think we've been quite restrained! Spring cleaned the kitchen too.

    Today I shall:

:heart2: Think of something to do for free today on my second day off. Weather promises to be fine and sunny, again. Have a packed lunch from stores and a flask of coffee wherever we end up.

:heart2: Do Nectar AdPoints. If you do AdPoints make sure you click on 'Collect more nectar points' under each video to get between one and four more points per video watched. (Link)

    :heart2: Do Ipsos Surveys.
What I like about these is they still give you a few points if yoiu start a survey and then they screen you out as unsuitable after a couple of questions.

    :heart2: Check online banking.

    :heart2: Washing on rotary line.

:heart2: Check Quidco and Topcashback to see if any cashback I've claimed is available.

    :heart2: Go running later. £0.

:heart2: Read paper online. See the bottom page of this link for a huge list of papers available digitally. (Link)

Ziggy, don't parents get all competitive with birthday parties?! I remember my favourite parties were the ones my mum threw us in our playroom with proper party games like pass the parcel etc! DD will be having a Teddy Bear's picnic party in our garden I think, her birthday is 23rd December but we're having a party in June for her.

    Hi everyone :hello:

Thanks for the bday wishes! Life is good so far :D

Went out for a few drinks last night with friends - started in a posh bar for a couple of 2 for 1 cocktails and went to the cheaper place when the deal ended ;)

Today we're going for lunch with my mum & dad (dad's bill :p) and then coming home for a takeaway (with the cheque grandma has just sent me). Sorted.

Also got some good news yesterday about the loan for the flat - got £1400 written off!!! Something about some non-compliant period where they couldn't charge me any interest. Woo hoo!

Also - OH was up to DIY tricks - with my help of course ;) - and fixed our washing machine with the help of google/youtube - £140 call out fee saved. :) And then we fixed our lodger's oven with a part from Amazon for £12!!! (This was a great little find because the oven was 2 months older than its 5 year guarantee.)

We're going to do a snowball this weekenend - taking into a/c the £1400 that's just been wiped off the loan :D and the new 0% card.

Hope life is treating y'all well.

Josiebabie - loving the conveyancing obsession - won't be long before you're in your new house - how exciting.

Ziggy - enjoy your walk with the LO in this sunny weather. :)

Katyann - thanks for the kickoff

    xx

    Hello all,

This is my first time posting on this thread, I'm fairly new to the forum and a very recent DFW.

Today I plan to clean my oven (a job I dislike) using a very well know 'branded' cleaner that I purchased for just £1 (poundland).

Whilst that's working its magic I'm going to spring clean my kitchen and see what's lurking in my cupboards.

First wash of the day is already on - and rather than sloshing the fabric softener into the drawer, I've properly measured it - will be interesting to see how much longer the bottle lasts :)

I know these are small things - buts that's the beauty of this thread and helps keep folks motivated.

I'm slowly coming to terms with my situation and today I am feeling particularly positive.

So, to all my fellow DFWs, have a great day.
