From The Oldie newsletter of 05/04. One entry per household.
Buxton Festival is offering readers of the Oldie two tickets to the Opening Night of the Double-Bill Opera with accommodation and dinner at the lovely Lee Wood Hotel, a short walk from the beautiful theatre. The prize is for the performance on Friday 5th July 2013.
This year’s Buxton Festival Double-Bill consists of two light, brisk confections which sparkle with all the wit and romance of 19th-century France. Saint-Saëns’ La Princesse Jaune is a satire on the 19th-century fad for all things Japanese and Gounod’s La Colombe is an opera comique based on the poem La Faucon by Jean de la Fontaine. Buxton Festival which takes place from the 5th- 21st July features world-class opera and music and an acclaimed literary series.
A warm welcome and excellent service are enjoyed by guests at the Lee Wood Hotel, a privately owned and operated hotel in a superb location with comfortable rooms.
