Hi,
I have been looking to purchase a couple of make-up items, not available in the UK, I have looked on a few sites, although all of the shipping costs seem to be at least $25 +, Which I feel is a lot to pay for a few cosmetics. Does anyone know a website with cheaper costs? I have looked on Viaddress.com, which was $33, and myus.com, which was also $40+
If anyone knows anywhere, it would be much appreciated
thanks,0 -

I live in Italy and in the past I used viaddress. Viaddress forwarding service is quite fast and they seem to be cheap. But do not look at the shipping calculator: my experience is that the real shipping price is about 30% more.
Second, they have not a good customer service. When I send viaddress a mail asking about my items they answer only 3-5 days later.1 -
I have to report that having had a few successful, albeit expensive shipments handled by myus, my last was a disaster.
I collect porcelain and had a shipment of some very special pieces from the us to the uk.
What happened was that when consolidating the shipments myus inspect the goods ( presumably to check there is nothing funny going on) but in doing this they removed the double packing I know the porcelain comes with and then proceeded to chuck them right in the bottom of a cardboard box with no protection whatsoever.
This resulted in a one off commission smashed and a limited edition piece also written off.
The problem was not in the handling if the package but with the packing.
As you might expect after numerous emails I am still awaiting the courtesy of a reply from myus.
So unless you want to take a chance on getting your stuff damaged by poor packing. Steer clear of myus consolidation.1 -
I lost my goods worth 800 USD, and they just simply tell you, its lost becoz they dont have enough manpower to check every incoming goods. My goods was reported stolen while its came to them and didnt notice that when they sign their receipt to USPS and I have to take responsibility by myself for it.
Simple answer and I just lost my money, thats it:D0 -
Few weeks ago, I decided to order a pair of slippers, worth $30 and $70.
When those arrived, myus declared them worth $30 and $600 respectively. I immediately contacted them with the description of the mistake, but they shipped the package anyway, charging me $60 for it.
Our border controls held the package and - because the price declared was much higher than the slipper price, they didn't let it though. I again lost $20 for brokerage services.
I contacted myus support with this, and what they told me is that they are going to charge me for return shipping, and than for the shipping again.
If you considering whether you would like to use them, think again. It's not worth it.0 -
I have been using bongous for a few shipments, service has been first class and im now on my fourth shipment with them. They photograph every item that comes in and you can view it and items have arrived 5 days later by fedex. However its not cheap but ive had stuff sent from the US that i cannot buy in the UK or get seller to send to UK. So for me was worth the cost.1

How about purchasing a CPU which costs 350$(newegg) plus+ 40$(DHL express shipping to Turkey) + "Personal shopper" (myus.com).
It clearly is over the 75Euro limit and subject Import Feed (20% of total).
What dangers wait ahead?0 -
Do not use this company. I was ripped off today. I got a car part that was about 300g in weight. A plastic strip for a door panel. About a meter long I admit but half a centimeter thick and 5cm wide. I got charged $180 US for that by myus.com. That is $230 New Zealand. The part cost me $25. The part has not arrived yet in New Zealand but I am expecting a big box to arrive. The weight of this box is 3kg. I was charged for 13 kg weight looking at the bill. If I would have known that it cost that much I would not have agreed for the item to be shipped. Apart from the complete waste of resources in card board, paper, shipping space etc, I find this sort of inflated shipping cost almost criminal. I had no quote, no email, nothing before they send this. Obviously they got your credit card so they can charge anything they want. I obviously will never use them again however what can I do to recover this cost? Looking at other feedback a refund sure is out of question I guess. I send email making a complaint but no reply obviously. Have cancelled my credit card now. What I can do though is: I can leave feedback to prevent this sort of rip off with other people that intend to use them. The net is littered with negative feedback about myus.com. My lesson this time is to do my homework first and I wish now I had seen this site and the reviews before I used them. Whatever you do, do not use myus.com under any circumstances. Its daylight robbery................It is unreasonable and dishonest how myus.com inflates their shipping charges!0

I use it and whilst yes, the shipping is expensive, you need to be aware that they ship by dimensional weight, so stuff that is a meter long will cost quite a lot - regardless of the actual weight.
Also, sales tax will be charged - they are in FL and you might also be liable for import duty on arrival. It is not cheap, so you have to think carefully about what you are buying. I have a subscription so I get slightly cheaper shipping costs, and I also have an account with FedEx their £10 admin fee for customs clearance is waived.
I think they are definitely reputable however, and you can email them to ask first of all, before buying how much shipping is likely to cost.
