Advice on moving to Glenrothes area

hi, just to say congrats on moving to fife, I grew up there (in Falkland) and had a fantastic time (although as a moody teenager I didn't appreciate living "in the sticks...") the only thing I would say is your budget could dictate where you can live as there is quite a variation in prices (NE Fife being generally the most expensive) although its like everywhere, prices vary. maybe coming from down south things will seem cheaper. oh and remember the offers over system here when buying!
also its just my opinion but i think a car is practically a necessity in most of fife although glenrothes and kirkcaldy do have decent enough bus links to get by on.
i hope you really enjoy living in Fife!why be a song, when you can be a symphony?0 -
Thanks to everyone - it's finally here I've my train tickets a B&B booked and start work next week - aaaargh
What I wanted to ask is about Public transport to Edinburgh airport - as my dp is moving our family home to Portsmouth I'm trying to figure out travel options so we can see each other while I'm working in Scotland - hey ho it's all fun
Any advice appreciated
TIA

I believe if you get the train to Edinburgh Waverley, there's a bus that runs directly to and from the Airport. Not sure if there is any direct way from Glenrothes to the Airport.0

by bus - I think there is a bus from edinburgh airport to ferry toll park and ride at inverkeithing. change there for bus to glenrothes. stagecoach is the company which runs it I think.
or as someone has said you can get bus to/from waverley station and then train to glenrothesx x x0 -
Yep, as said, pretty sure you'd need to get the bus from Glenrothes to Park & Ride at North Queensferry, then catch the Airport bus (either no. 747 or 777), passed it loads of times on the bridge but cannot remember the number !
If I was traveling from Markinch think I would get the train into Waverley then bus out to the airport though.0 -
My husband and I are looking to buy our first house and we have seen a perfect house in glenrothes. The only problem is we really don't know any of the areas in glenrothes
, the property we are looking at is in woodside road near the church. Any advice would be great!!
Thanks0 -

I don't know too much about that area but as far as I know its ok. One thing to consider is that Woodside road can be quite busy and I think it is a bus route so there may be some traffic noise.0 -

Hi,
As far as I know and have heard it's fine around there.
I used to live at the other end of Woodside Road (near town centre) a few years ago now though ....
A lot depends on what your looking for though ?

Is that the four bedroom next to St. Margarets? It looks to be quite a good buy (seems a lot of house for the price). That area around Well Road is really quite nice, although Woodside Road can be a bit busy as mentioned above.
There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

I take my little girl to the mother and toddlers at the church and all the locals are really friendly.
The road is a little busy but better now that they have that mini roundabout rather than the junction which used to be a nightmare at the end of the road.
My friend stays in well road and they love it!0
