Deposit dispute uk holiday let

I have recently been away t a uk holiday let and the owner has taken 160 pound from the deposit to cover cleaning and an extra 90 to cover cleaning of the carpet which has 2 very small pen marks on it. We cleaned quite thoroughly, swept floors cleaned toilets even cleaned the glass patio doors and set the table. I have accepted the carpet fee although t seems steep but I have disputed the cleaning fee but she won't budge anything I can do? There was a contract that said extra cleaning fees would be charged but doesn't specify what extra cleaning means. She has used an agency who have charged the extra. We were only there 3 nights!

First i can stay is wow . Where on this earth can someone command over £250 deposit ontop of the fee for staying there. Thats mad and unless you held a guns and roses afterparty there is no need for any cleaning bill . You have been scammed badly you did your bit a "cleaned" to an acceptable standard end of . You need to read properly what the "con"tents and "con"text of the "con"tract "con" and warn them to 1stly justify with pics and receipts for that staggering amount . Then look into recovery of your deposit and making sure you name and shame these people start here if you like. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Glad you agree! She is sending me a copy of the invoice from the cleaning company she uses and is going to forward the carpet cleaning invoice too. She says the cleaning company charge if the house isn't as it was when we arrived. Seems she expects not to have to clean it at all.....I guess the next step is small claims court?0

This seems outrageous, giving us courteous holiday cottage owners a bad name, as greenface says I think you should name and shame.Owner of a cute cottage in the North York Moors :j0

Threatened trip adviser but can't find her house on there! She said she was happy to defend herself in public0

If the house is left the same as when you arrive then there is no need for a cleaning company. You need pics and would be good if others have had the same problem. Our cleaner charges £15 per clean regardless what the condition its left in. She does inform us if its extra messy (happened twice in 3 years ) and we have told them we are full when they have asked to stay again.Small claims and NAME AND SHAME:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

These charges seem excessive for what many owners would consider normal wear and tear. Ask for supporting evidence (photos) of any damage.
Surely the rental rate included an end of stay clean?
Where did you book the rental, on a rental site or through an agency?0
