Here we go again - after Tmobiles recent increase - we get hit by another EXCESSIVE increase - just waiting for Sky TV subscription to get a similar hike - and what stopped them from giving their customers the obligatory 3 months warning ?
"individual circumstances with these customers' ...
What they are saying is "We think that if we don't warn our customers they won't be aware - so won't complain" !!
Isn't it about time that MSE helped with this ?
  • Like the gas and electricity market, the once nationalised telecoms industry is yet another 'sham' in that it is in no way a really competitive one. Fact is, unless you go with cable no matter what company you go with are effectively reselling BT. This is so evident when BT increase their prices and their main 'competitors' then increase theres in line with BTs. It's pretty pathetic really.

MSE does, vote with your feet and use another supplier or pay 12 months LR up front.

Careful what you wish for though, the last campaign on energy prices has resulted in all the cheap tariffs being withdrawn, and a reintroduction of standing charges.

  • I phoned the terminations team at Sky this weekend to complain about their email switch over. I was given half price line rental for 12 months.

    interesting.
I didn't get a price increase last year for the telephone as I was on an offer. They increased the line rental to £14.50 this month. I'm in a TV and telephone contract until December. Given the astronomical increase can I terminate the contract and move elsewhere?

Still cheaper than BT, why not pay 12 months up front as it works out at less than £10 / month.

It's not still cheaper than BT because Sky's call charges are astronomic. Using BT line rental you can use the most suitable alternative (CPS) call provider for the call. Even calling from a mobile is far cheaper than Sky's call rates for both national and international calls.

Good point, have to admit I rarely use the landline, for calls.
