Music Magpie - Warning

Options
Do not use Music Magpie!

I sent 91 items to Music Magpie, and the total came to £128.33. Now that they've finally paid me, they only sent £115.18.

I queried with their online support, and they've told me that one DVD had no disc in (surprised, as I double checked everything, but not bothered as it was only 26p), and one game had damaged artwork. This is complete bull, as the game in question had only played twice and was in mint condition. The artwork was in a cardboard sleeve outside of the plastic game case, and the game would have been perfectly acceptable without the cardboard sleeve and bonus artwork being sent alongside it at all. And even then, it was all in excellent condition.

Some of the DVDs I sent were in tatty cases with stickers and residue left on them, and I only sent them to clear up some space. The only game they refused to pay me for on the grounds of its condition was in excellent condition, but just happened to be the most valuable single item in the order, making up over 10% of the money they were supposed to send me. What a coincidence!

I asked for proof of the damage, which you would expect them to want to provide when items above a certain value were refused, to cover their own backs. I was told no proof would be given, I had no right to argue or to see proof as per their terms and conditions, and that the item has been recycled or destroyed. They denied making any money off the item, because it was unsaleable with damaged artwork - this is all complete rubbish. There is no way anyone would have failed to sell it for something, even if they reckon the artwork was damaged (which it wasn't). They have a 'pass' or 'fail' stamp for each item, instead of having a 'not full price but still worth something' option. They then use this as an excuse to rip you off for the full value of something at their own whim, whereas any normal business would come to a compromise on value.

I read their terms and conditions before using them. I understood there was no option of having your goods returned. But I did not expect them to be so blatant in ripping me off.

A warning - do not use Music Magpie for anything worth more than about 50p. Yes the app is fun, and it's more convenient than standing in CEX while they process everything. But they will rip you off. Due to their terms and conditions, which I suspect are bordering on unenforceable due to their unfairness, you have bent over and showed them your exposed ar5e as soon as you send them your items.

I didn't look round for other feedback before using them. I should have, but I didn't. I still haven't, however I'm guessing my story must be quite common? Shame on them.

I've used them many times, never a problem.

If you didn't like the T&C's you shouldn't have used them.

What reasoning do you have for assuming your story is common? You haven't even looked for any feedback.

91 items. It's not beyond belief that not all 91 matched the standard MM expect.

Was going to sell some stuff to musicmagpie once. I entered it all in and got a price. I then saw on the terms and conditions that they could reduce the price offered if anything was damaged etc. I wasn't happy about letting them make that decision so I never went through with it.
