can my employer charge me for a company mobile phone i.e. line rental or do they supply them as i have my own phone i have no need for a company phone but they are saying i need it to log in and out of my calls with in a domiciliary care environment?.
(i can use my phone to log in to calls but... having problems with it and iam not the only one having trouble and the only way they think this can be solved is one type of phone for all).

If your employer is giving you a company phone to use for company business then they will pay line rental and costs, - they may charge you if you make private calls on it though.0

You want more confirmation that something for business use is paid for by the business? What sort of confirmation do you require?Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0

'Hi boss. It's a business phone, for business calls. Therefore the business pays. Thank you'.
Don't mention that you have your own phone, and don't ever use theirs for personal calls.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -

If you need to have one, then they need to supply one.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -
yep i know but we did not mind using our own at the time as it wasnt in constant use but now by the looks of it, it is going to be (the price of progress) going to cost them a fortune lol0

You do not have to at all use a personal phone for company calls unless they have agreed to pay for those calls or if part of an allowance agree to pay part of the monthly charge.
However if you get a company phone they pay for all of it, line rental calls etc and never use it for personal use at allWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
keep things simple and trouble free, NEVER use your personal phone for business use, EVER!
If the company want you to have a piece of business equipment, then they provide it, pay for it, own it. It will be your responsibility to keep it in good working condition and MAY be liable for the costs or repairs or replacement.
NEVER use your company phone for personal use, EVER.
Following these simple rules will keep you trouble free and happy.
