    Sounds like they want an MRI scan of that area to ascertain what the lesion is. MRI is magnetic resonance imaging. It's like an x-ray but it doesn't use radiation, just strong magnets. They are very safe.

    Karen, you really need to discuss your concerns and ask these questions with your GP. The folks on here can't advise you medically, and even those working in a medical field don't know anything about you so can't rely on guesswork. Phone the doctor who requested the MRI and ask their advice.
