Tumour is just another name for a "mass" or lump. It is probably a Fibroid, which are really common.

Because lots of doctors assume folk understand what they're talking about! They use these words every day and its commonplace for them, but sadly not for patients. Some are better than others at putting things across. That said, some patients have selective hearing also, and chose to hear what they want to hear. There is a chance all the OP heard was "blah blah blah tumour blah blah blah blah".

OP, try not to worry. Radiologists (the doctors who interpret what the scans mean) are clever enough to be able to tell by looking at some things whether they are cancerous tumours or not. Not everything needs a biopsy, or can be biopsied. But there is no point worrying about something you haven't been diagnosed with, and they've said it's benign which as the others have said means its not cancerous.

Thanks, and yes I just heard the word tumour and freaked out and thought the worst.

Oh, that's reassuring to know. How do they treat a Fibroid?

    :) perfectly natural response.

But think about what the word benign means in other contexts - you ever heard of an elderly man being described as a benign old man?! That means he's just kind and gentle. So this is not a word that is used in medicine to signify something awful, scary, deadly, terrible. Put it out of your head, you've increased your blood pressure enough for one day. :)

Try not to worry too much or you will make yourself ill! The word tumour is scary but, like yours, many many tumours are benign. We just tend to associate that word with the Big C for obvious reasons.

Maybe make an appointment with your GP to explain things as when youre initially given news from a Dr you rarely take much in (except scary words like tumour). If you can, try take someone along with you.

There are various methods depending on where they are located. Better to wait and see than guess imo. Just try not to worry and
be assured that benign is good.:D

..is that so they can see what the lesion is? MRI's don't hurt, at all, please don't worry.
