Topped the oil up this morning and just about to set off home. Service booked for next week. Actually service is not due for another 7 thousand miles but better to have it done.
Thanks again.0 -
Once again asking fo info about an error code - this time code 21 came up, stayed for a bit and then went away. Above it was a little icon which looked like a book with an 'i' in it.
I've tried to search the internet but have come up with nothing. any help here would, as usual, be appreciated.

Does not require a code reader for that code its in the owners manual and not surprisingly its available on on-line too with a quick search.0

You can also do a technical check on the Meriva that the Dealers charge for because they used the GM Diagnosis Tool OpCom, you don't need the tool to find out, you can use the "Pedal Trick" to get the technical fault codes come up on the infotainment screen.
BRAKE PEDAL TEST
Hold down both the brake and accelerator and turn the ignition on (but don’t start the engine)This should be the second click, keep the pedals held down for a while and in place of your mileage the display pops up ECN followed by any stored error codes, only the first four digits are required.

Thanks rds. Your post is really helpful. I did a search, both online and in my car handbook and found nothing. A 'quick google search' was fruitless. Now I know it's a light I can get it sorted and am now assured that I won't be heading for limp mode - happened once with my previous car and was the scariest moment of my life.
One happy woman. :j
