Please advise- doing the DRO and fell pregnant

Options
Hello,

I am in a bit of a panic- almost as bad when decided to go down at the DRO route.
I have just been issued with the DRO but just found out that I am expecting.
Obviously, this will be reported as soon as reaching 12 weeks but just wanted to ask for information on this forum before I hear from the authorities in respect to what will happen to my DRO. I will start receiving the £82 or so per month before the 1 year is over and of course the maternity pay will change my income too. But then my outgoings will be also higher due to a new mouth to feed...

Any information would be much appreciated.

Also, please do not judge as this baby is a gift from heaven, it's just the timing that is off. If anything, the DRO could be cancelled as this new life is more important than anything else. Also, I am not on benefits and not wishing to receive more than I am entitled to (not to say I have a problem with ppl on benefits).

Many thanks,
Mummytobe2

Firstly, congratulations, I hope all goes well and you and baby remain in good health.
Secondly, don't panic. your situation will not improve to a point of making the DRO impossible to continue, your budget will simply need rejigging, and the DRO should continue as normal. Who did your DRO (CAB, Step Change, NDL? CAP?) when your budget is due to change and you know your exact figures, give them a ring, they will help you make a new budget, then you send it to the DRO Unit and if it's still under £50 surplus the DRO will continue as normal...
  • Thank you! I am feeling better about the situation.
    The DRO is through NDL.
Thanks again and all the best!

    Hello there,

As Wba31 has mentioned your DRO is highly unlikely to be affected - so long as your dispoable income is still less than £50 per month.

When you get a moment give us a call on 0808 808 4000 and we'll update the figures for you.

    Massive congratulations by the way!

    David @ NDL.
