working tax credits, overpaid to me!!

this is from 05/06, im due to go back to work soon, and i was told they would deduct the amount weekly from my WT, its quite a large amount nearly £2000, does anyone know how much they can take out of future working tax?

Bad luck on the overpayment. I owed about the same. They have taken previous overpayments back through deductions but I no longer qualify for WTC so have to pay it back monthly. I don't know if they same applies to deductions but the maximum period you can pay back over is 12months. Hopefully you will be able to do it over longer.

Sorry I can;t be more specific but good luck

Thanks Edwara, i suppose you dont have a rough guess, at how much per week, they will take, from my child tax credit(that was overpaid too) i think they are taking abt £5, as i only get £40 something a week, im really hoping no more than £10, a wekk, as it will affect how much i am earning!!

i know when you pay it back via your tax credits its 25% of what you would get......can tax credits not tell you what you will have to pay back

If you are facing hardship you can, on production of your income and expenditure details, ask for it to be collected over a longer period.
