    Thanks all

So if I went with Natural Calico - I am looking for another subtle colour that can be used for the feature wall. A bold colour such as red, blue etc would be too much we just prefer neutral colours

So would it be better just to have all walls in the same natural calico colour?

What about a subtly patterned wallpaper with toning colours. (I used to only ever paint walls but I love wallpaper on one or two walls these days)

I do this too - most of the people I know think I'm barking mad. I think it's perfectly normal, and it stops me getting bored. It also means I don't have to decorate very often, as things are always changing and my room never gets tired.

My winter colour is red, summer is duck egg blue. Changeover day is when the clocks go forward/back.

Great minds think alike here! And yes, my friends and colleagues think I'm mad too. It does take a bit of time swapping it all over but it is a lovely way to mark the changes of the seasons. I also use clocks going back/forward as my changeover time.

I've only done this in the lounge/diner so far but am tempted to use the same idea for the bedroom....

As it's all about to be painted, it's swap over time, though it doesn't feel very summery at the moment!

Stay away from blues.. I dont think it goes well with the calico, if you want blues go for a pale greyish tone to match.
Consider mellow mocha, natural hessian, gentle fawn, dusted cappucino.
B and Q have 3 for 2 on testers. paint on to large samples of paper, not the wall.
Willow green is nice if you like greens, will tone as calico is yellow toned.

If you make a bad choice you can bring the color down with a good dolllop of white, works for me lol!

I have Natural Calico in my living room. I think it has quite a cold underbase - it looks a little grey rather than warm in shadow or lower light.

Blue does work if you need it to, but it doesn't produce a warm effect. Definitely agree with the warmer beige colours and green or red / orange.

I have Natural Hessian with Overtly Olive in my dining room / kitchen.

I do this too, although nowhere near as often as in the lounge.

I have neutral walls and floor, and just change the colour of the bedding. I also have picture frames and put wallpaper in them which compliments the bedding. Especially :money: if you get free sample pieces of wallpaper!!

I have been known to put fabric in the picture frames too, if I find something which goes really well.

I think blue can work with it, but only if it's pale like a duck egg blue.

I'm the opposite of magnolia though and love bright colours, we've just went for a wallpaper by Graham & Brown called Trippy....and it really is lol! :rotfl: it's orange, brown and cream (very 1960'S!), and they are great colours also to go with Calico, although I'm not suggesting you go for anything as far out as that obviously!

But if you were looking for a wallpaper instead of paint, there's some great ones out there!
