  • I think given the chance most people would keep curtains open bar heating concerns.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who took the time to reply!! Did not expect it to get this much interest. :p

I think I need to stop worrying what people think when my curtains are shut AS WELL as when they are open!!

I know what another poster said about going in the kitchen to get 'another sandwich' which is exactly how I feel whenever I eat anything with the curtains open! Not that they would be looking anyway but we live in a very small cul de sac with about 4-5 houses looking directly at mine. :rotfl:
People don't know what they want until you show them.
  • Curtains open during the day is a must!

Best thing about weekends when it's sunny is getting up, getting a brew and opening all the curtains and reading the paper!

    Jesus I'm 28, sound about 50 haha!

I second the food comments! We get lots of people walking their dogs etc past our house... And even when I'm making lunches for the morning I still think people must look in and think 'blimey, no wonder she's that size, always in the fridge'!

I've never heard of the bereavement thing. My assumption would be, if I saw curtains closed during the day, that the occupant was a lazy slob.

    How charitable of you.

I'd probably assume they were on nights.

I would assume nothing to be honest, I probably wouldn't even notice

True, I can't think of a single time I've ever given a second's thought to the status of somebody else's curtains!

Mine at the back of the house are always drawn the main reason being is my house gets all the sun at the back. I have several animals and I like them to be able to find shade in the summer when it's too hot for them.

Plus OH & me work weird shifts so I'm sometimes asleep in the day time at the weekends before going to my bar job at night. Same with my housemate.

I have the blinds down at the front because there have been a number of dogs stolen in my area recently especially large dogs (I have two huskys). If you look through my kitchen window there is a window looking straight into lounge where the dogs are
