Seller "will" issue refund

I opened a case against a scammer, funnily enough he responded immediately despite ignoring all my messages for 1 month, and it said he "will" issue a refund. That was 2 days ago and nothing has happened.

There's no button to click that I haven't received the refund, will that appear in a few days' time?

I thought it would all be automatic through paypal once the seller clicks refund in the res. centre? In the past when I've had to open an INR case I received the refund as soon as the seller responded..

Just ask him when. Cases are either with the buyer or the seller, and at the moment, it's waiting for you.

Surely it's waiting for him to refund? The only thing I can do is click that I've received refund or change to SNAD.

There should be an option to send message?

OK, I found it and sent a message but as expected he didn't respond, despite leaving feedback for other people in the meantime.

The case says "The seller will issue a full refund to your PayPal account for the purchase price plus original P&P before 07 Apr, 2013"

So what do I do now.
  • If the seller has not given the money back inside the 3 day window, then am sure ebay automatically takes the money off them as it is on hold in paypal so they cannot get it just now, and you have the chance to escalate the case should no dosh arrive, then the case will be seen in your favour

The seller has a couple of days leeway to return your money and when they have done so, the case closes automatically by the site robots!

UNLESS they send an echeque refund, so never close a case until it clears!

Exit ebay and just wait for a refund check on case notes in a couple of days, and don't sweat the small stuff!

If he hasn't refunded yet, is there a button you can click that says 'escalate' ?

    That's what I thought, but there isn't.

I bet he withdrew it 1 month ago, so it won't be on hold in paypal... will it?

Paypal simply plunges the sellers account into the red, and so it is limited, they will have a message advising them that until theycredit the account to above £0.00, ie FPI cash from their current bank account to credit it etc, account will stay "limited".

Don't kid yourself, Paypal seize the money even so many weeks later when the seller has spent it, it gets reversed, if account has been at zero it will be minus whatever amount the person owes you, when a dispute is opened they get the money back for their buyers.

If stupid and scamming scumbags think wrongly that if they quickly withdraw funds, then " no one can get it " they will soon find that Paypal can and do have the power to get the money back as all this has been taken care of in the T&C they signed up for when opening a PP account!

OK you're probably right but this guy is in Lithuania and I expect withdrew the money 1 month ago. I guess PP will have the same policies there though.

Normally I wouldn't worry so much but I had planned to quit ebay 2 weeks ago, everything was going to plan but now I have this scammer to deal with, a potentially dodgy postman who may have stolen the last things I needed to buy AND I sold all the 50 bulky items I needed to get rid of except the final one just had to end up with an NPB!!
