Selling genuine branded goods - ebay warning?

Hi,
I have ran a profitable ebay shop for several years selling branded clothing and had no problems. I closed the shop last year.
I still have some stock left and so I listed it as a few joblots on another account and had an ebay warning about counterfeit goods flash up. It basically said, are you sure these are genuine as the listings have been flagged and will be reviewed. It also asked me to include evidence such as serial numbers in my listing.
I have no evidence other than the fact they are all tagged with original tags, so I included this in my listing, together with a line about them being stock from a now closed ebay shop and made sure all the tags are visible in the pics.
Is there likely to be any problem as the listings haven't gone live yet and I have a few more to list. Surely if they are reviewed, then ebay will see that there is a linked closed shop account where they had no problems with me selling the stuff for several years!?

I've had genuine GUCCI watches removed from eBay and they were genuine. eBay has to take it's legal position into consideration at the end of the day and they have no way of knowing if your stock is genuine or not.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0

They seem to do this randomly, I've listed DVDs before and had one or two out of about fifty ask if it's genuine. In fact yesterday I listed a lot of PS2 games and the notice popped up. Never had a problem so far."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Some companies restrict their items being sold on Ebay and elsewhere, so whether counterfeit or not isn't always relevant (obviously selling counterfeits is illegal).ballisticbrian wrote: »I've had genuine GUCCI watches removed from eBay and they were genuine. eBay has to take it's legal position into consideration at the end of the day and they have no way of knowing if your stock is genuine or not..0 -

I thought this couldn't happen in the UK anymore, remember the case of Levis being sold in Tesco from grey market imports and nothing Levi could do could stop it.
Whereas GUCCI can quite easily monitor eBay and send them reports of fake goods, which eBay can't argue with.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0 -
Thanks all. The point is, that I have been selling them for years with no problems on my linked shop, and am now just offloading the last of the stock. Sounds like its likely to be just a random thing. I have listed 3 lots so far and it only popped up on one of them (?)

It still happens. Cosmetics are often very strict. Some companies will restrict resellers, either to selected companies or not allow it at all.ballisticbrian wrote: »I thought this couldn't happen in the UK anymore, remember the case of Levis being sold in Tesco from grey market imports and nothing Levi could do could stop it.

As an aside I always thought the Tesco 'scandal' was a bit of a publicity stunt, it never did either Tesco or Levi any harm. Levi sold product (wherever it orginated) and Tesco looked to be on the good side of the consumer..0 -
The charity shop where I volunteer (a very well-known charity) once had a listing for a bundle of posh carrier bags (various makes including Armani and DKNY) removed. I was aware of eBay's policy banning packaging which might be used to sell fakes, e.g. Tiffany boxes, but I didn't expect secondhand carrier bags which we were trying to sell as collectors' items to be considered useful to counterfeit merchants. However, eBay seem to apply the "rules" indiscriminately.0

I have a warning on one particular item which has the same name as a expensive watch maker. I have always had this warning and it has never resulted in anything happening, neither have I had to enter any details, just click to say 'I agree' or whatever the box is asking.0

Might be safer to sell the stock locally. Set up a small market stall or have a party at home where the customers can view the goods and decide for themselves.0
