    Ouch, this may be painful.

Why did you close the first account, how have you opened a second? You are allowed two, but not two of the same kind.

You may be able to link the old email address to the current account. Also despite not allowing it, paypal don't tend to notice if you have multiple accounts as long as there are no buyer problems and you don't link them to the same bank / card etc.

i closed the old paypal account as i hadnt used it for a few years and i had forgot the password .The email account linked to the paypal account was also unusable as i had hadnt used it for many years and the provider zoom doesnt seem to exist now.

Unfortunately my ebay account was linked to it and i hadnt sold anything before on it didnt really think why the money might go when i did sell something. I opened another paypal account a few years ago so i could buy things.

im abit upset to be honest as i dont really want ebay to keep my money.:(

Well, despite what zerog suggests, they do not take kindly to people breaching their T&C.

You would be best to call them and explain.

Don't email, they only send generic replies.

If I am understanding your OP, then Ebay don't have your money, Paypal do.

OK, so if you forgot the password how did you close the account?

If the old account is really closed, the money will be unclaimed and the buyer should be able to retrieve it. You can then ask if they are willing to pay your current paypal account, whic should be fine as long as the item is covered by paypal buyer protection.

hi thanks to everyone who replied this post.

yes the only way round it was to contact the buyers asking them to cancel their payment and resubmit it to the new address. I would have thought ebay/paypal could have helped me more but they didnt.

i will let you know if i get all my money or not.

    thanks again

As above that will only work if the account was formally closed and not just left dormant. If account was left dormant then the payment will have gone through and buyer will not be able to reclaim it unless they open a case against you- and 2 or more of them will probably kill your account, as well as any other new ones you may have- for good.
