Hotmail/Outlook, UGH!

I am finding hotmail or outlook, whatever they choose to call themselves, a real pain in the proverbial bum.
Why?, because try as I might, I can't log out of the wretched account as one should. It sometimes take as many as ten tries before I escape. I even have to hit some of the reply type buttons to gain a different screen in the hope that "sign-out" is activated.
Why use it? Well I don't fancy or like gmail, so if you can offer a suggestion of something that is reliable to compliment my yahoo account, I'd be grateful.
I think I have read somewhere you can't even unsubscribe from hotmail, you just don't use it and eventually it goes away.

Don't like it that much myself - but to log out just go to your name at the top right hand corner of the blue tool bar and click on it - it will bring up your "sign out option" at the bottom of the list.
Its easy enough once you get used to it but still don't like it seems very old fashioned and clunky! I can't find an option to report spam/mark as phishing on the tool bar - can anyone else?0 -

Go here, sign in, click deactivate.

Select email, click junk or you can click the dropdown icon next to it for more options (phishing etc)0 -

It's that damned sign out option that fails to work. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
And is there any way to get rid of the 'advert' stream at the RHS of the screen thus enabling me to view all my email at full width?
I'm not happy, I suppose I'll get used to it. My account's so old I'm still using a .com one; and I really wanted to keep it...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

If you're using Firefox, you can install Ad-Block Plus.
If you have Avast installed, the latest version will install a similar piece of software for both Firefox and IE (not sure about Chrome/any others as I don't have them installed).:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
Just set up hotmail in an email client rather than web login:

Not without subscribing. There are ads there but at least Outlook.com is not actually reading the contents of your email like Gmail does. And is there any way to get rid of the 'advert' stream at the RHS of the screen thus enabling me to view all my email at full width?
On mine if I click on an email message then the 'junk' menu option appears at the top. Click the down arrow and select junk/phishing scam etc to report back.I can't find an option to report spam/mark as phishing on the tool bar - can anyone else?0 -
I also have a problem with 'Outlook'.When I want to move an email to a folder ,the dropdown menu only get displayed for about 1 second and then disappears.I then have to refresh the page, then the dropdown menu stays on the screen enabling me to move the email to the desired folder.Just wondered if anyone else has this problem.I'm using XP and google chrome.0

It does however still scan the contents of the email for spam/antivirus, and read the subject line to target ads. All free services have to be paid for somehow...0 -
I just don't like it. I keep asking how to revert to the old style but there's no replies.0
