Are you able to find out the cost of car tax if all you know if the make, the year and the engine size, is it possible to do this

    Yes just go to http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/?SKIN=directgov and click on Vehicle enquiry. You need to enter your registration number and make of car - easy peasy :D

    ok cheers, another question is if the car has been off the road for 2 years would the only 2 costs be a new tax and an mot

    Should be, if you are the new owner/keeper of the vehicle, you will be required to complete the relevant section of the vehicles V5 form stating the date you purchased/received ownership. After all, you can't be charged for RFL on a vehicle you didn't own !!!
