  • I Bought my Tickets back in June 2011 (£230) using my Debit Card through Paypal and have just read on here as well as other places that I can kiss goodbye to it. 6 Failed attempts including 1 where we got up at 3:30am to be at Doncaster Racecourse for 6:30am.. We got to see the Balloon (albeit still un-inflated) and the guys even had us help to lift the basket etc. off the trailer only to then announce after an hour that the weather wasn't suitable for flying.. The kicker was as we drove back home, we saw 2 balloons up in the air.. Very Very Angry and Frustrated at this joke of a company!!

ballooning is unfortunately a fickle business.

    Xmas Saver!
cant believe this just got back from being out of country my daughter was due to go on hot air ballon trip 2mor with her grandad - was an xmas present - got one very upset child. does this company really care at all.
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • Go vouchers possibly also gone (suspended trading).
it's been noted elsewhere that balloon flight prices have gone up since go ballooning went pop, so maybe now operators are getting prices back to where it is more sustainable rather than having to slash prices in order to compete with go ballooning (now obviously suicidal) pricing.
  • Whilst not linked to balooning, I got one of the govouchers for my birthday and I understand they are the same company. Shall keep an eye on this thread and hope something comes of it. A google search took me to a site reviewing govouchers. The post's on there stated the two people running the "show" have a history of starting these companies up and eventually they fail. Not sure if true or not, but certainly worrying.
  • If you think they were dishonest, report them to actionfraud.

Do get in contact with the proposed liquidator. (goballooning@ewsllp.co.uk)

Think about having Jon Rudoni (jon@wickersworld.co.uk) represent you at the creditors meeting on Wednesday.

Take the time to write to your MP about this. I received a reply from my MP yesterday and he is writing to the relevant Minister. It takes very little time to do. Use writetothem.
  • Don't shoot me - I'm an ex-pilot for Go, recently dropped in the XYZ by what they've done. Don't let it get brushed under the carpet. You may only have paid £79 for a ticket, but some have paid many times more, and the pilots, crews, maintenance people (mostly self employed subcontractors who are in the same position as yourselves) are owed many thousands. You do realise the directors can declare themselves as creditors too and then hold a significant vote on the liquidation process?

    Please, please, please:

    Register if you're a creditor

Attend the Creditors Meeting - appoint a proxy if you can't (Jon is a good bet as mentioned above)

Look at the recently formed companies of SKYPOWER LIMITED and SKYPOWER AERIAL FILMING LIMITED and wonder about the closeness of the incorporation dates (23-3-2013) and the day they ceased trading as GO (5-4-2013 I think). I wonder what equipment they are using and how much they paid for it?

I worked as ground crew for Go Ballooning last year. I quit after a couple of months due to the weather (I was on a zero hours contract and only got paid when I worked). I had to start Employment Tribunal proceedings in order to actually get paid for the work I'd done.

The person I was dealing with (who told me to deal with their solicitors then wouldn't tell me who they were, refused to take my phone calls, blocked my email address etc - and generally went out of his way to be as obstructive as possible) had a Skypower email address so those companies were obviously very closely linked as I was employed by Cameron Flights Ltd.

While this was all going on I bumped into another balloon operator who told me that the people involved with the various companies operating from the Go Ballooning address were, in his words, well dodgy and, as other posters have pointed out, had a reputation for starting companies which quickly went bust.

As a previous poster has asked - what has happened to all of the assets of Cameron Flights? I wonder if Skypower etc coincidentally bought the balloons etc just before they went bust?

Anyway, my experience of the Go Ballooning/Skypower/Cameron Flights bosses is that they were dishonest, deceitful and very unpleasant to deal with. I wish everybody good luck in getting their money back and hope the police are looking into the way these people did business.
  • Did anyone attend the meeting last night?

    What was discussed?
  • Our daughter saved hard to buy me and her Dad a balloon flight with Go Ballooning which was purchased early 2011. After 6 previous attempts we were due to fly again on Sat. It criminal that she might not even get her money back.
