dvd unlock help

hiya can anybody help me please? ive just burned off a vcd for my daughter, but it wont play on her dvd player (disk works, ive checked it), is there anyway of getting her dvd player to play it (possibly at no cost)

Yes, you can get an unlock code from the net. Basically it uses the remote to send a series of commands to unlock the player (i.e. make it multi-region/play anything).

What's the make and model of the DVD player?

its an alba DVD-165 ive tried an unlock code and nothing happens

OK - try this :-
1. Turn on DVD player & TV

2. Press Setup on the remote

3. Navigate to the Preference tab

4. Press keys 2812 one at a time, in that order

5. A box will display on the TV that looks like this:

Region code 2
Version Alba DVD165 v1.3

If the above region code is 0 to begin with, it's region free already - time to test with another region disc

6. If it's any other number (1/3/4/5/6) simply use the up or down [arrow] keys to change the number. To make your DVD165 region-free/multiregion, stop at Region code 0, then press Setup to save & exit

7. You can repeat the steps above at any time to view/change the region code status

You need to make it Region 0 (zero) to make it region free so it will play anything.

I know this may sound like stating the obvious, but ignore step 3 and just enter the code.

OK - I tried another site here :-

with no luck.
At the bottom, there's a "Submit new" type of link. Send them your DVD details and they should get back to you with an unlock code.
I suggest you use a spare e-mail address if you have one in case of spam.

An unlock code wont work in this case, the unlock codes are to make the dvd region free, thats all. Anyways it is allready multi region

If your player cant play vcd, then it wont play them, no matter how many codes you put in. The 165 will only support cd, cd-r and dvd.

Are you able to burn dvd's at all, if so you will need a video converter software to burn to dvd.

If you have Nero try make your own DVD video and under add video files there is an option to add vcd files.

I have never tried it so I don't know if it is what you are looking for but it might work
