So i hear. Unlike seemingly most people though, i prefer not to call.

So you join a bank which is known for excellent telephone customer service but you prefer not to use it and instead hold conversations over a a system where it takes 1 - 2 days to get a reply each time.

Seriously, just phone them, everything will be sorted in 5 minutes and you'll know where you are rather than asking yourself "Did they mean this, or this, or...".

    Not true.

I join a bank that is offering £100 joining incentive & an 8% regular saver.

Nothing else was taken into consideration when i joined.

Similarly when i joined Santander - i wasn't interested in their poor customer service reputation & all the horror stories on MSE. I was only interested in them offering the top account at that time.

To be fair, the person who picks up the phone at FD is unlikely to know if the transgression will be reported to the CRAs (unless they also do the computer programming!). And I can't see them being able to get a definitive answer from anyone else 'on the spot' either.

OP, Experian show some 'examples' of current account 'black mark' codes here...

Agreed repayments are one to two months behind.

Your overdraft balance has been greater than your overdraft limit for one to two months.

Cheques, direct debits and standing orders may have been bounced to keep the account in order.

You don't seem to qualify for a '1', based on what you've said.

I've not been in the OPs situation but for example I had a slight connection problem when I was setting up a future dated bull payment so was not sure whether it had gone through or not so I rang them and while the first person I spoke to couldn't answer my question they were quite happy to put me on hold while they spoke to someone to get the information for me.

In the OP's case nothing was bounced. As FD reports balances on the first of each month (I believe), the credit report would show a balance of 299 for April.

I don't know if CRAs record use of unauthorised overdrafts.

Is a formal request without any immediate debit, for an overdraft free or also chargeable

Sounds a bit precarious to me, most accounts will just refuse the debit card payment but this one would add on 25 without me knowing :o

Thats like the time tesco charge me 12 pounds for buying biscuits, I forgot my wallet at the till so without any cash I went 10p over my credit card limit by paying that way. they let me off but only with a final warning :o

If that's the case then at the point of 1st April i was -£299.

I'll secure message them to see if they know anything about marking me as late payment.
