Why would there be signal break up on on BBC channels but not ITV channels at certain times on Panasonic Viera TV over the last few months? It seems to happen around 10.00 p.m.

It would appear that your TV signal is marginal, you probably need to see if your aerial has moved in the winter winds, it could also be water ingress in the cable connector on the aerial. If your aerial is an old one then it may not be a wideband one, and therefore not as sensitive across the the range of frequencies used.
As regards time, it could be interference from kettles micowaves boilers switching on to make tea etc after the tv program that ends at 10.0
