Hi, I have a "Young Savers" passbook account with the Nationwide which I hold for my daughter.
I contacted Nationwide via the website, (no specific details given) & just told them the name of the account and asked for the current interest rate. The reply was "this is not an account name we recognise". Looking on the Nationwide website, I cannot find the current interest rate for it either (I've looked under the "existing account I already have" tab. I'm wondering if it was an account that originated from the Portman which merged with the Nationwide. It is now a Nationwide passbook. Is there any site where I can look up the current interest rate ? I don't expect the interest rate to be high as it is not a new account but would still like to find out.
Many thanks in advance.

Your best bet will be to call Nationwide and quote the account number to them. They'll be able to look it up and find out exactly what rate you're getting.
Don't expect it to be much though!0 -
"Portman Young Saver" account gets a mention here -

It does seem likely that it was transferred to a Nationwide account. As Noble Savage says the account no. will enable Nationwide to trace it.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -
Thank you both for your advice. I see on the link you gave Noble savings, that the interest rate was 5.95 % in 1997. I doubt if that was for very long after ! I am going into town to check the current interest rate. Thank you so much for your help.0
