Not if the claimant has prepayment gas and electricity meters for which a crisis loan is needed to top them up.0 -

So say if you have a crisis and have to contact the council to get assistance, which department in the council do you contact?. Does anyone know?0

I haven't a clue to be honest and some councils themselves don't have a clue as in the new provisions are not in place yet!
I suggest contacting you local job centre and ask then which department in the council is dealing with this now , personally I find it a bit of a shambles and once again it is the most vunerable who will be suffering0 -
In our local authority area the scheme is being administered via local advice agencies and CAB providing grants, vouchers and direct deliveries for the following: food; heat; electric; gas; essential furniture and white goods and emergency/essential travel e.g. to court, hospital, funeral. All decisions are made within 24 hours.0

Does that mean that considering for such agencies the DWP is always 'wrong' while the applicant speaks only the truth that every application will be allowed?

You do usually have to 'prove' your circumstances so I doubt that will change eg if you are moving into a new flat with nothing you would have to show them proof of the move in your name , plus your current bank statement
WOW benefitbaby your LA sounds GOOD .... Still have not found out what my boroughs local provision will be but as it is in the most run down area of South London I am not holding my breath for any adequate provision just food banks and 2nd hand furniture projects .... So it becomes a postcode lottery , so some get grants and vouchers and possibly new furniture and others get sent to the food banks and furniture projects .... Hardly a FAIR scheme then is it across the board!!!
( I actually read somewhere that this is going to cause people to move to new areas with better provision which does not surprise me! )0
