Ive just bought one of these and Im having trouble connecting
to my Wifi.

It tells me I am connecting to SKY45604, fine,

Then it asks for my password, I put in the key number from the card I have which is also on the router but its just coming up
Authentication problem.

I cant figure out what Im doing wrong. I didn't have any problem with my little net book

This is a guess but if you are entering just a number it sounds like WPS and you'll probably need to press some button or other on your router first. Check the router docs if that doesn't jog your memory.

Incidentallly WPS is reckoned to be unsecure these days - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_Protected_Setup

Docs are long gone. But I'll have a look at the router lol

Sorry, its not a set of numbers its a set of letters.

A google search will usually bring up user guides for most things including routers. Adding inurl : pdf (no spaces - the forum converts the correct format to somebody sticking out their tongue - inurl:pdf )to the search can usually filter out all the ebay adverts etc. for the actual kit.

Connecting to WiFi is a long long way from needing a rocket scientist. What make and model is your router? Somebody (possibly me but I'm busy tomorrow) will help you for sure.

I had no problem with my laptop, and my net book, they connected immediately.

Its just this Achos that wont. I'll have a look at the router and let you know, and thanks for your offer of help.

Just had a look and it says Netgear approx. 5/6 years old. C (odd) E 0681 nothing else on it except for barcode numbers.

I found out by experience yesterday that this is a very common problem with not only archos but many, many android tablets. Ordered one for Mini-Gun#2, it arrived yesterday, and it can't even SEE my network, let alone connect to it  Now, being techie (but not android), thought no probs, sort it out when I get home - no, not happening, it'll see some other networks, and even pretended to connect to them, but still can't connect properly. Some googling produced lots of results of similar problems with android wifi across many manufacturers. Even full factory reset (as advised) won't sort it....currently awaiting RMA info from seller with unhappy 11-y-o in tow....

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    Wife has one of these.
GO to Setting, Select wi-fi setting, select add wi fi network then were it says network id type in yours( SKY45604) then were it says security hold on to open, then select security that you are using on lap top ie wep wpa/wpa2psk. Then type in the security password that is use for laptop and your netbook.

Hope that is off some help.
