Damp Issue - Renting

Hi all,

First time posting so apologies if something similar has been posted recently.

I rent with my partner and 2 year old daughter a flat which is currently having a lot of problems with mold, damp, condensation etc. Our letting agent / landlord has been Okish at responding to all emails I have been sending although we don't appear any better off now in Spring. We have had people round to inspect and the landlord has repairs our floor that had holes in but at first the damp wasn't linked as well as 2 air vents which have done nothing.

The landlord was advised to have a dehumidyfier but chose not to due to cost but is now reconsidering due to no improvement. (Would this cost me in extra bills having one of those)?

My main issue is that damage has been caused to a couple of pieces of furniture as well as clothes from all this damp and mold as well as walls, window seals and even a bit of the carpet turning black. The landlord has refused to pay any compensation on this as he doesn't feel its his problem.

I'm cautious at pushing to much as I fear they may put a lot of this on us when we choose to leave and not get our deposit back but on the other hand some people have said we should point blank refuse rent (which I have never even threatened to do).

Any advice would be appreciated, currently waiting for some guidance from shelter.

Thanks.
