Washing machine purchase from Currys

Last night our washing machine broke down, needing one very quickly we tried to purchase one from Currys online between 9.30 and 10.00pm for delivery tomorrow (5th). Total cost £299.99. However two visa debit cards and one mastercard credit card were declined. This morning the price has gone up to £349.99 + £9.99 deliver charge. Called Currys and they said it wasn't their fault, they could see we had tried to purchase last night, but won't honour last nights price, they told us to contact our card providers. The cards were different accounts and different providers, all with sufficient funds, our providers had not put a block on any of them. Although all suspected the issue was between Currys/Visa and Currys/Mastercard.
As the consumer here, I'm now £60 down, anyone come across this before? Is this a dodgy practice to get more money out of customers. I've still purchased the machine as I need it urgently!

It's dodgy practice, but ultimately unless you can prove that the fault was intentionally occurring to prevent you from purchasing cheap items, there's not much that can be done. It's possible that whilst they were updating their website last night it caused a payment issue, or there could be any number of other reasons, not all of them malicious.
In future, however, may I suggest Appliances Online. They price match, and they too deliver next day. I've had great service from them every time I've used them, and even the delivery drivers were lovely, offering to install my wahing machine for me despite me not having booked installation as they could see I was pregnant. Top class!0
