Opening Bank Account After Voluntary Liquidation

Hi guys,

I hope you can offer some advice.

My business partner and I to cut a long story short set up a limited company in 2009 and voluntarily liquidated it earlier this year.

We banked with Barclay's and have since opened a new account for a new limited company we started also with Barclay's. We have discovered this week that not only the old company's bank account has been closed but also the new.

We are due to take money from dozens of our customers in the coming weeks and no longer have an account. We were also in the process of signing up for card payments as some customers requested that method, now we can't do that either.

Basically we have a new company with great potential expecting to turnover £250k plus first year and we have no means of taking payments from our customers!

The obvious thing to do is to apply for a new account elsewhere. We've tried that and had a no from everyone we've tried.

Can anybody offer any advice on how we can get a business bank account asap? Our business is online and we cannot operate without one.

Many thanks for reading and I very much look forward to hearing from you soon.

Why did Barclays bank open and then close the account of your newly formed company?

Why will no other bank open an account for you?

It seems you are missing out some important information. We can only help you if you give us all the facts.

Your a risk as a director, closing companies down and opening new ones after leaving debts behind in the old one doesn't go unnoticed. You seem surprised by the banks actually looking into your past history.
