If you are lookin at a year old that is possibly the last of the pre facelift model.
A mate got one in the NHS staff lease scheme and he really rates it, not exciting but economical and cheap to insure.
The Met Police has started buying them after a long association with Astras, probably 15yrs plus.
The Met seem have bulk bought he pre facelift model aswell so certainly due to them being a little cheaper.
But large public sector bodies like the Met Police look into the most minute detail of a prospective large expense like vehicles.
The Met actually bought a couple of hundred old shape Focus hatchbacks when they were likely going cheap and the. The i30's turned up round London.
The fact they have chosen the i30 over the Focus and Astra and the long warranty you get says, "win" to me every time.
Check the big CarSupermarkets for ex lease vehicles that come up at one year old as they may be cheaper than main dealers.
Fords of Winsford have a decent reputation.
Trade Sales out in West London got caught miss selling Opels as Vauxhalls and were prosecuted and funded so maybe avoid them.
Motor point also have a decent reputation.
CarGiant can be marmite but they are the biggest so more likely to have some complaints as they sell more, nobody I know has ever had any problems with any vehicle from CG, and most issues online are from the kind of customers that would complain if you sold them a Porsche for a tenner.
CarCraft are overpriced and sell a lot of cars from WeBuyAnyCar, the rough stuff ends up at auctions under the name CC Trade Sales.
Good luck with the search.0 -
Worthy a read if you haven't already.

Probably similar to the kia ceed that also has good reviews0 -
I have the 'old' shape and agree with other comments - not particularly exciting and interior plastics not quite up to latest Ford/Vaauxhall standards, but in 2 years, never had a fault or problem. Got mine 'nearly new' from Motorpoint. 5 year warranty is a bonus too.I'd buy another one.
Have you looked at Kia also - sister company but the Kias are better looking IMO.0 -
I have had a brand new i30 in June last year. The model is Hyundai i30 Hatchback 1.6 CRDi Active 5dr Auto. I have done about 8500 miles it it. I have had no problems with it. It uses more diesel than my previous car - Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI DSG Auto.
Within 2 months of taking delivery we went on a Continental holiday. Visited lots of countries on a convoluted route to Italy via a wine festival in Germany. The car performed well on the autoroutes, autostrade and of course unrestricted autobahnen. Did about 3000 miles in total.
