Universal Job Match - DWP access to Sanction

Son signed upto the Universal Job Match and was told by the job centre its mandatory to give them access.

What is the comeback for this? The staff know its not mandatory, so I can only presume they only want access to his account so it gives them more chances to sanction him.

He went with proof regarding job applications and such but refused to give them access to the Universal Job Match.

...looks like someone is getting one less Easter Egg...

Unless I'm missing something I don't see the problem with using UJM to record searches rather than using paper. You dont have to upload a CV or apply for jobs through it.

I've been using it for a while now and I haven't had a single issue in fact if anything it has speeded up teh time I am in the jobcentre which is no bad thing.

Am not concerned about the use of Universal Job Match, my son is using it himself. What I am concerned about is the job centre staff wanting access to view his history, knowing full well its not mandatory to give them access. It's the blatant lies that get me.

My jobcentre adviser told me that the "guidance" tells them that they cannot demand passwords to private accounts, and any sanction will fail if they try it.

I have an account, which they insist on, but never use it. You can use the site without logging into an account, as long as you supply "a written account" of your compliance with the required actions on your jobseekers agreement (to the letter) you can't be sanctioned.

And yes you are right, the system is set up to make sanctions very easy to apply.

I typed my jobsearch out by reading the agreement conditions and answering them, one by one, once you have done this the first time, you just need to update it every fornight.

They're just trying it on.

They will use whatever they can, to check & sanction people.

It's not mandatory to give them access, they're telling lies. I get great pleasure in telling the job centre I do use UJM but they're not getting access to my account. I'm quite happy filling in the little booklet.
They don't like being told that - especially when you look them straight in the eye with a smile - but there's nothing they can do about it

i was told to sign up as it will become mandatory soon.. i think its an invasion of privacy.. on another note if they want to check us online can we "sign on" online and save us £7 busfare ???

It was 'supposed' to be going mandatory for jobseekers to sign up to UJM at the start of March, I think it was, but that didn't happen.
The way it stands at the moment they can only force you to sign up to UJM under a Jobseekers Direction if they think you're not taking adequate steps to find work. They still can't have access without your say so though.
If you do sign up to UJM just make sure you have the necessary boxes on your profile page unticked so they can't have access or send you emails.(near bottom of page)

WOW!!! I do keep all my applications and replies from jobs online etc but my JC is pretty lax...they don't even make you fill out the entire written form...I just have to write job/date and how I applied so...Tesco...applied online 14/2/13...I don't have to fill in any of teh other boxes like follow up etc.

On mine I do similar all by hand and put the link where it was advertised and when I will chase etc then I have to email it all (so have to write it all on an email ) to the WP

No one even bothers to look/check it at all as its far too much for them to get their heads round
