It is mandatory to register and use UJ as part of your jobsearch, then came from 1st march. It is not mandatory to allow JCP access to your account. Yes it does make it easier to prove you have applied for jobs that you have been matched to, JCP do not then have to check with employers that you have applied for said jobs. Some jobs you cannot apply for without an account.
Bear in mind when you sign the average allocated slot for every two weeks is 4 minutes, if everyone provided jobsearch as good as SaveMeDo the four minutes would be so easy.
Yes it is followed up at random what vacancies have and haven't been applied for so yes you can say you have applied for jobs when you haven't but you may get caught sooner rather than later. UJ was just designed to improve things, does it actually? in my opinion no not really.

On mine I do similar all by hand and put the link where it was advertised and when I will chase etc then I have to email it all (so have to write it all on an email ) to the WP

No one even bothers to look/check it at all as its far too much for them to get their heads round

You'd save a lot of time if you recorded it all in a word or (easier) an excel document that you could just attach to the email and send.
