Advice regarding iPhone Sale

Hello Everyone

I'm just after a little advice regarding the recent sale of my old iPhone.

I listed my iPhone on ebay for auction and it sold. I had good communication from the buyer letting me know when they would pay, which they did very promptly the same day.

I packaged everything up and sent special delivery the same day and emailed the buyer the tracking number. The package arrived with the customer the next day (I checked the tracking).

Having read so many horror stories of scammers taking advantage of iPhone sales, I took loads of past advice from this board to protect myself, e.g special delivery, photos of package weight, IMEI numbers etc. I had decided that I would leave the funds in my Paypal account until such time as I received feedback from the buyer so I would know that everything had gone through fine. (I left the buyer feedback as soon as they paid).

It's been over a week now since the buyer received the item and no feedback has been left. I had a quick look at his past feedback and despite making purchases regurlarly over the last 2 years he hasn't left any feedback for sellers since 2009.

I really want to be sure that it is safe for me to move the funds but I don't want to hassle the buyer and sound like I'm begging for feedback. It seems that he is just one of these buyers that doesn't do feedback, which is fine, and if it was any other item I wouldn't be worried but because it is an iPhone and you hear so many stories of sales going pear shaped I was hoping for the feedback to kind of tie things up.

So what do you think? Should I leave the money there for another couple of weeks just in case? Should I contact the buyer? Should I presume everything is ok and go ahead and withdraw the funds?

Any advice is greatly appreciated! :D

Withdraw the money, some buyers (and sellers) never leave feedback. Feedback left doesn't give you any additional protection anyway.

Thanks soolin. I know the feedback doesn't offer any protection but it would hopefully just be reassurance that in 3 weeks time he's not going to decide the phone doesn't work and want a refund. I don't desperately need the money, it will be going in the wedding saving pot, but all the time it's in paypal it's not in my savings account looking all nice!

I don't sell a great deal on Ebay, but if a buyer hasn't left feedback within a week, I leave them feedback and message the buyer asking whether they have received the item. Also advise that I have left feedback. This usually prompts them to leave feedback.

However, regarding your enquiry, even when the buyer has left feedback, problems can still occur.

About a month ago I sold a designer handbag and received great feedback. Then a couple of weeks later the buyer contacted me to say a problem had occurred with the bag.

I offered help, and I think she must have resolved the problem with the manufacturer, as I haven't heard from her since.

I left the money in my Paypal account in case I needed to refund, and would advise you to do the same, that is unless you need the money urgently.

    Good luck

    Dont hassle the buyer.

Withdraw the money, keep all your paperwork for six months.

FB doesn't change anything. They have 45 days to file a claim with Paypal.

Just leave it, and if you must, keep the money in PP for 45 days.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I stopped leaving feedback for sellers unless i receive mine 1st.

I bought and paid for my item, Usually instantly. There is nothing else i can do so should i not get feedback now?

One buyer bought a car i advertised for my mate. Then days before the feedback deadline asked me to leave them feedback. They left feedback saying the car was good and they had fully tested it.

Almost 3 months to test a car that was under £600 ? I ignored them.

Nothing else that you can do apart from claiming non delivery (which could be truthful), claiming that the goods were damaged or not as described and demanding a full or partial refund, start arguing over the cost of the P&P and asking for a partial refund to cover this etc.

As a seller I will happilly leave feedback first but only when I consider the transaction to be complete and for me this means the buyer paying and then receiving their goods and being happy with them.

As a seller I leave feedback for buyers in batches every couple weeks, if they haven't left any feedback I mark them as one of the buyers whom doesn't leave feedback.
