Laptop broken outside of warranty

Hello,
I bought a laptop from my friend last month which he had purchased in Nov 2010 for £550 from John Lewis. It expired from it's warranty last year but can i get a replacement from John Lewis through the Sales of Goods act with the durability section even though i am not the original purchaser?
I have all receipts from the purchase and can also get a engineers report on the laptop. If i am not allowed to, can i write the report in my 'friends shoes' (pretending i am him?)
Thank you for your help

Speak to your friend. He's the one you bought it from. Get him to deal with John Lewis as he was the purchaser0

You "can" commit fraud, but I wouldn't recommend itOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

It's unlikely you (or your friend) would get a replacement anyway, an offer of a repair is likely the best offer you would get.It expired from it's warranty last year but can i get a replacement from John Lewis through the Sales of Goods act with the durability section even though i am not the original purchaser0
