[Amex] Just got a Gold Card. Likely to get a BA one now?

Hi,

I was approved a month ago for Gold Charge Card and I also own a Platinum Cashback card.

In an attempt to earn as many Avios as possible, I'd like to apply for a BA Credit card. Do you think that there is any chance I'll be approved so soon?

I also own another two non Amex credit cards.

Yes there is a chance, but depends on your account conduct on the Platinum credit card. If declined, you could offer to reduce the limit on the Plat and see if they will let you have the BA. No signup bonus though.

Why no sign up bonus? The T&C's say that you wouldn't get a bonus if you've held another BA card in the previous 6 months.

You will be eligible for the sign up bonus. You are only prevented if you hold another Amex product from the same family - MR points and avios are separate.

Already having two Amex cards in itself shouldn't be an issue, I believe I've read Amex have a 4 card limit with 2 x charge cards and 2 x credit cards being permitted.

However, the fact that you have a recent search may effect you in the same way as applying for any other credit product. Best thing to do would be to just call customer services and ask, they've always been pretty helpful with me.

They were pretty useless when I called them to ask them about applying for the second card

Sorry, you're right, I know charge and credit cards are separate but I thought you wouldn't get a signup bonus if you currently hold any other Amex credit card.

In that case just apply and see what happens. If you already have Amex Plat CB and Gold then you're credit is obviously pretty solid. One more search isn't going to do you much damage.

If you do go ahead and apply then be sure to post on here what the outcome is. I have both cards you're talking about and I'm thinking of going for the Avios card too!
