Options
maybe this video can explain more to all the disabled people about the new PIP coming.

If it ever got to the point where i have no money to eat. I would go to the police station and break something to get myself arrested. Atleast i would get a warm cell and food and if everyone who get SANCTIONED by the job center did that than the government would have to change there policy about sanctioning so many people on the work program.

  • This truly is a must see.

Listen as the Minister for the Disabled tells them 'in time the body heals' and very soon all will be able to pick up their sick beds and walk.

I thought Carol Malone was nasty but McVey really really really has now got top spot in hate for the people she is supposed to represent be defending (or is that defunding?).

I was just waiting for the "They are being punished by god!" line as it wasn't to far off tbf!

Here's the CH4 link no subs links atm may worth asking CH4 if they do subs and if not why?

Just watched this on the channel4 link and would have liked to have heard her responses in full, without his constant interruptions, before making any judgements.
It's almost impossible to gain any information when the discussion is being cut off and diverted to a different topic without a proper answer being allowed.
In her slight defence I have to agree that SOME people do recover, or their condition will improve over time, so benefits they were receiving should no longer apply, and it is only right and fair that those in greatest need get the help but that can only be done by reviewing cases.

My understanding of the current system is that claimants who may recover or have improvement in their condition are given a fixed time award and those with lifelong conditions without expectation of improvement are awarded indefinitely.

The fixed time award allows for a reassessment.

I cannot see how PIP is improving this.

Surely after initial diagnosis and treatment plans most people move from constant consultations to less frequent ones and the entire NHS process is geared towards moving people back into primary care. With my GP that means, if you are under his care, you just get prescriptions. My own GP doesn't seem to hold with reviews or appointments unless something out of the ordinary occurs!

I'm sure for a lot of long term conditions there's not a lot to be done after diagnosis, so, without bombarding the NHS for appointments, how are people supposed to provide current 'evidence' of their illness that Ester McVey and PIP are demanding?

The 'improvement' is attempting to only provide funds to the most deserving and needy as opposed under DLA to anyone and everyone! The funds available for PIP will start at a figure of 20% below what was being paid out under DLA.

With a budget of 80% of what is currently going out under DLA, surely it is inevitable that some are to lose out. There isn't a never ending supply of money.

As for evidence, yes you are right but having said that, it is not inconceivable for you to ask your GP to prepare a report on your current status.
Most people with severe difficulties and disabilities will be seeing someone on a regular basis even if it is the GP.

My DLA award (MRC/HRM) will go down the pan when PIP comes along. Maybe I will get a short term award of standard care under PIP - I just don't know. But provided that this reduced budget is properly shared out in a more significant way it is worth my loss.

You just have to view things from different perspectives.

Hi BBB just wondering why you think your award will go down the pan on HRM? they are moving the goalposts when they changed it from 50m to 20m and class it as mobilisng as opposed to walking [one foot in front of other] also of they are freeing up the numbers and getting rid of about a third then how do they come up with that figure and also are the other more needy going to get huge rises in their awards? i doubt it

She's a horrible c*** that would do anything to get on TV.

And you can tell she's waiting for a better job.

Her religious comment at the end make my flesh crawl.

You have answered it already! I can mobilise 20 metres - 66'. A lot different to the 160' under DLA.
