Not sure if anyone has seen this (its now up on iPlayer) but this is a good example of why insurers price young people the way they do.
For me, it was interesting in seeing the contrasting views of the parents compared with what they were seeing on the footage- in particular the young mans mother who seemed to want to ignore everything she saw despite witnessing two incidents of her sons driving that would have resulted in a ban.
Also, that Focus he was driving has got fronting markers all over it- apparently his mothers yet clearly a middle age, middle class lady loves owning a car with a modified stereo, altered gear shift / gaiter and the obligatory 'Nurburgring' sticker on the back of it.

Yes i saw this, wasn't really shocked to see what teenagers get up when behind the wheel. I think those who are being filmed should be shown photos of the damage caused from their actions eg the youg guy who wa sover the limited should have been shown photos of the damage done to a car/drivers/passengers when the driver was over the limit.0

I saw one with the young girl who had temper tantrums and never had her hands on the wheel?
I'm shocked she got rewarded with a car.0 -
It looks like the police are considering prosecuting some of the drivers in the programme!

There are enough idiots on the road as it is!
My car goes fast, however I will go as fast as I feel comfortable driving, as experience tells me is safe (I've driven over a million miles in 8 cars, since passing my test), however I'll never hit 100mph on a UK road, it's asking for trouble!
I've mentioned on the forums before, that I've had a serious car crash when we lived in Russia (90-ish km/h, in a leaking tunnel, -24 degrees, straight into a wall). OH was pregnant with DD2 at the time, and all I'm grateful, is that I didn't have OH or DD1 in the car with me.
If I hadn't been driving an old Merc 190 (which survived another 3 years, with 2 new pieces of glass, a new rear axle and some minor cosmetic repairs), I probably wouldn't have survived it, and seeing some of the driving in the programme, especially in the wet, absolutely sickens me!
Speeding, driving dangerously in dangerous conditions and not concentrating are my three worst bugbears on the road, especially as when I had the accident, the limit was 120km/h, the conditions were dangerous and 100% of my concentration was on the road.
Rant over, I'm off to bed in a sec!

Young drivers are dreadful, always have been, always will be. OK maybe your unique and beautiful snowflake of a child can drive sensibly but none of his mates can
This is exactly why I don't understand the current generation's penchant for documenting literally everything they do in public. You know you are on film and you know it is going to be broadcast into the home of every traffic cop in the land so why on Earth would you drive over the limit? They also had that "junior police commissioner" who failed to realise that every journalist with more than seven functioning brain cells would Google her name and be taken directly to her twitter feed with all its incriminating tweets in plain view.It looks like the police are considering prosecuting some of the drivers in the programme!

I did plenty of idiotic things when I was at secondary school too but fortunately I'm too old for any of it to be tweeted, facebooked, googled, or youtubed0 -
Several years ago I used to live in a small country village where most people knew each other, one morning working on recovery I was called to an RTA only to find it was the car of the son of an acquaintance of mine from the village.
He had passed his test six months prior and they had bought him a older Vauxhall Nova as a first car, he had picked a mate up and was on his way to school in the nearest town, the road was a main A road but has a couple of tight bends, when he came to one of the bends he lost it completely careered across the road and embedded the car in a tree, the car was nearly unrecognisable his mate was killed outright and he never regained consciousness and died two days later.
Obviously his parents where devastated, many months later I was talking to his father in the local village pub and he said 'I cannot understand how it happened he was such a careful driver', I thought how little you know he used to drive through the village like a bat out of hell turning into one junction with the tyres screaming, several people had stated that he would kill himself one day and sadly he did.0 -
There are good and bad drivers out there no matter what age they are.
I am a young driver and a good driver. I always drive at speed limits and have only just had my first accident after four years of driving - which was not my fault!! Although I was hit by another young driver :l
I think its unfair for people to make assumptions for the whole of the young driver population.0 -

You may have spotted a gap in the market, if your comments are accurate.
Insurance premiums for young drivers are sky-high. You should provide your information to a number of insurers, as perhaps they are unaware that there isnt really any difference in risk between experienced/inexperienced drivers.
If you can reduce premiums for young drivers, the you should be able to corner the market
Good luck

We have all been young once and i guess a lot of us learned to drive by going too fast and finding the limit of the brakes.
I have done a job similar to cajef and its not nice, Some very nasty accidents. More than you see in the news and the papers.
Thankfully i never had to recover a vehicle for anyone i knew.
I had a mate that used to be a fireman, He went to a fatal RTA and the woman in one car was his neighbours wife.
Pixo, Just because you drive within the limit doesnt make you a good driver.
Ive seen good drivers doing 100mph. But they look ahead and dont go charging into risky situations. They drop back and let the people doing the limit have the accidents.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Market research has shown that France is one of the top destinations in Europe for Brits. But one thing you shouldn't leave home without is a good travel insurance policy.
One provider InsureandGo offers great value policies for short breaks to extended trips that include over 40 adventure sports automatically and cover under 18s for free.
A spokesman says: "Don't just rely on the E111 to cover you for your trips to France. Its regulations may mean that you can't be treated at the nearest hospital should you get injured or sick. And it certainly won't help you pay for items such as your repatriation back to the UK or an extended hotel bill."
Sorry, I get it for free with HSBC Premier
Thanks all the same.
