Alloy Wheel Repair?
Does anybody have any experience of getting wheels repaired or refurbished? I have one with some slight kerb damage but another that has buckled a bit after hitting a pothole.
Wheels are around £400 each hence the hope I can save money on replacements.

Can I help?

Kerbing can easily be repaired professionally for around £60+ per wheel. As far as a buckled wheel is concerned it really depends on the extent of the damage and whether there are any cracks in the alloy, there are a number of places that can "straighten" alloy wheels, again you probably looking at around £50-£100.
Personally, if it was buckled I'd be inclined to replace the wheel, maybe look for one off ebay.0 -
Cost me £350 to do a set of 4 wheels, one of which was buckled. This was at Renowheel in Bridgend back in 2008. Prices in Stevenage in 2013 may be higher
They did a decent job, still using those wheels now, and this is coming from someone who notices when the balancing is out on new tyres and keeps going back until they actually do a proper job.0 -
laptab in the Midlands. They do a good job. There is a cheaper place fairly close to them but google showed some less than glowing reviews.
If you can do without your wheels for 17 weeks... And get them back in a poor state then save some money..
Beware who you choose. Google the name 1st.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I had all mine done after one had become damaged (by a pothole). It was quite expensive but they looked brand new at the end. The company was Pristine Wheels in Milton Keynes.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

I've had refurbs done, and they've looked absolutely mint, for what seemed like ages!
A couple of years later, big chunks have fallen off.
The phrase "you can't polish a turd" comes to mind.
