It goes on day in day out not one person can say they never bid up a friends car or big item for them , everybody does it!

Well I did this once when someone offered me a high BIN price so I wouldn't have to relist it as BIN.

I once had a 0 feedback buyer who kept bidding on my items and made it look like a shill. But that account was also doing it to lots of other items in the category...

Everyone who uses ebay has at some point been party to a shillbid and it is so common it's not even worth me wasting my finger muscles by typing, and why is it even an issue, it happens and is undetectable, and when you are seething and are an actual a "victim" of this and send an angry "report email" it gets laughed at by a guy eating a kitkat and then put in a recycle bin by an ebay rep! It makes you think why bother getting annoyed, just do it myself next time!

So funny, folk buying and selling off themselves , awarding themselves great feedback is usually when they catch themselves out !

All I can say is thank heavens most of us don't have the same morals as some people.

I value my account and would not risk it on something daft like a shill. However, the very fact that some sellers don't actually fully understand how to set a start price that makes them money is also a worry, to me it is simple- but obviously beyond the intelligence of some.

so seller n bidder are called matt so only the seller is allowed to be called matt?? may not be shill bidding just someone else called matt bid
  • open an ebay account, close an ebay account, bid on stuff , sell stuff, who gives a stuff who bids on what? well, shillbidding goes on fact of life, not everyone is so honest online, as all these moral upstanding know it alls here, so expect to be ripped off on loads of sales and you wont be disappointed, I always suspect anyone who has private listings but ebay know it goes on and do zilch.

Personally I dont "value" an auction site account, it is just a place to buy bike parts and biscuits , if matt one and matt two are the same guy who in the hell really actually cares or is affected? not me , good luck to the guy if he rips off some idiots who want something to badly they try and outbid everyone! just wait until matt gets their monthly bill in for all the sales and also try and post items to people, he or she will need a mortgage just to post all your junk now.

38 bids on 16 items, frequently using amounts just below logical price points, across a dozen completely unrelated categories ...and all the items happen to have in common is that they are exclusively listed by just one seller.

    All one big coincidence? :wall:

so someone called matt bids illogical amounts on various items by same seller also called matt must be guilty of shill bidding. instead of finding him automaticly guilty without full facts on a public forum just report suspicions to ebay and let them deal with it

Sorry, I thought the idea of the forum was to share money saving tips!

The chances of choosing 6 numbers out of 49 on the lottery and matching them with the random draw are about 1 in 14,000,000.

What are the chances of choosing 16 completely unrelated items out of the millions on eBay and they happen to have the same seller?
