RBS mortgage loanguard

ok, bear with me on this one!
11 years ago, got our first mortgage with rbs, along with mortgage loanguard policy. I remember having it, i dont ever remember cancelling it.
today i recieved a letter from rbs, an "annual review" of my mortgage loan guard policy.
this gets me scratching my head, as i am a regular on my accounts page, checking my incomings and outgoings.
so i sit at the laptop and i account for everything except a payment to direct line for £20? so i ring them up and sure enough its for royal bank of scotland payment protection?
wife gets in, i explain everything to her.
she wants to know why we would have accepted a policy with sickness cover when at the time she could get full sickness pay as she worked for the NHS.
2 questions,
1. do we have grounds to claim missold as my wife would have been payed for sickness anyway? thus a possibility we were bullied into it being first time buyers?
2. do we have grounds to claim as direct line appeared on the statement and not RBS?
if anyone has a similar story, especially one of success i would love to know.
thanks for your time and knowledge:)

    We cant answer that.

Whilst some forms of PPi do not pay out when there are employer benefits, that does not apply to MPPI. Also, you have contradicted yourself in that statement. You say you were bullied. Yet earlier in the post you say you dont why you would have accepted it. Which is it? These sorts of discrepancies can kill a complaint off.
    2. do we have grounds to claim as direct line appeared on the statement and not RBS?

Who did you buy it from?

MPPI has the lowest success rate of any type of PPI. Main failures are single premium. However, yours is monthly as it should be. You havent indicated any reason for mis-sale. Employer benefits are not a problem with MPPI and whilst you say you were bullied into it, that is highly unlikely and over melodramatic. More importantly, 11 years after the event, it isnt very credible and no evidence will exist to support your allegation.

Unprovable allegations always make weak complaints as they rely on another failure or an autopayout decision. Also, mortgage advisers are required to make you aware of shortfalls in your financial needs in relation to the mortgage and what you need to fill those needs as well as the consequences if you dont. This requires a level of disturbance which is allowed. It shouldnt cross a line but it can be uncomfortable. Problem is 11 years later, you cant prove if a line was crossed.

Are you also covered in such a way? Regardless, it's not just sickness cover-it covers unemployment as well. Mortgage Payment Protection pays out in addition to employment cover.

You are paying to Direct Line because that is the insurer which RBS used for your policy. Why would this be cause for complaint?

Did you have a mortgage at the time.and would your wife's wage cover it and all the bill's at the end off the month. if not. then you was not missold it as that would of been explained to you so if your wife was off work for say 14 months would work pay full sick pay untill then maybe not. so it was there for that reson and thats why you may have took it on as i have it and i have now used it three times so glad i got it. But now you may not need it so you can only try.
