Bt- grrr

i rang up BT on Sunday to get an engineer out as i'd been having issues with my broadband cutting out. Rang up and said i wanted the Saturday slot 8-1pm- booked it in happy as larry that i got a weekend slot as i work 9-5 mon-fri and it's tough getting time off work.

Got a call at 2:30pm today in work. Answered it confused as i had no idea who it was. He said 'Hello i'm Duncan from Openreach, can you let me in'.

I explained i was in work and didn't finish until 5pm and that he was 3 days early. I told him i'd ring up BT when i got home to understand what had happened. At this point there was little i could do as i'm not actually allowed to answer my phone in work as it is! (no managers were in :A)

So i rang up again, turns out instead of the Saturday morning, i was booked down for Wednesday Afternoon!?!??! The person made out i'd accidentally missed it, then gave the impression i was lying! It took 40 mins in total just to book it back in for the time i asked for in the first place!

Ridiculous! I'd be so irritated now if it comes to Saturday and the engineer doesn't turn up.

Good luck, I find Saturday slots are when engineers seem to be pulled from call outs for other work.

It's Openreach that are causing you problems (although it's a moot point because your contract is with BT and they should be sorting this out for you).

Openreach are regularly complained about, part of the problem being that they're not actually customer facing so you can't complain to them directly, only via BT.

It's the wonderful world of outsourcing! Just wait until the NHS is run like this... :D
