Sorry, one more thing. I guess I need to get the exhaust problem resolved otherwise I'm going to have the same issue every time the rear wheel needs removing. Are we talking about just fitting a new exhaust, or is this more difficult due to the broken stud?"Hope for the Best
 Prepare for the worst"0

if the stud has been sheared it should allow the exhaust to come offI MOJACAR0 MOJACAR0

Good luck with it. You might be able to get a second hand standard exhaust for it on ebay if you're lucky.0

If a stud has been sheared off, this will need to be removed, which IME can range from a 30-second job to nightmare, depending on how much stud is left in the head and how corroded it all is. It could easily be an engine-out job to repair that. £250 sounds very steep, though. I would have though a good back-street guy would charge half that. Those scoots are hardly rare these days, so you don't need a franchised dealer.
I'd back up what Joe said above - don't even think of riding around on a foam repair. On a two-wheeler, your tyres are much more critical than in a car. If the puncture was in the centre of the tread, a repair is easy, cheap and long-lasting. Tubed tyre - new tube and put it back on. Tubeless - fit a mushroom and you're good to go. If it's anywhere near the sidewall, get a new tyre. Compromise here is not worth it.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

If it is near the centre, you could try one of these:-

or this (both the same system):-

I didn't trust them at first but ended up I having two of those fixes on my 1200 bandit for the last 3000 miles of it's last rear tyre. I only replaced the tyre when the tread became illegal. I didn't hang around either.
Yes they do *seem* dangerous at first but I know of at least 8 repairs among friends and family that have never failed.

If the shop still have the bike, go and see them and ask them to show you what the problem is. I would also ask them if the moped will get through an MoT with the current exhaust.0

A quick fix would be to fit an inner tube in situ, just break the bead seal and lever the tyre over the rim, fiddly but possible.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
