Dfs sofa...can I change my order?

I ordered a sofa three days ago and it is a 4 week wait. After careful thought I think the sofa may be slightly too big for the room. I now wish we had ordered the smaller one. I did suspect this issue when I ordered in the shop but the sales assistant kept saying that the bigger one was better value . The smaller one is only £20 cheaper but is 30 cms shorter which I think will be better for our smaller room.
Will I be able to change this easily or will this be a big hassle?

What did they say when you asked them?0

Last time we ordered a sofa from them there was a no change your mind clause (had a more technical name obviously!). I seem to remember thinking that seemed a bit dodgy to me but they said something about all items being made to order. Unless they're the really rapid dispatch ones
I still have no clue if this is legally ok thoughData protection is there for you, not for companies to hide behind0 -
When I ordered my dfs sofa (instore) it was made pretty clear that once the order is through that's it no changes.
That was a couple of years ago now though, you might as well ask them if its possible, u never know...0 -
Go in, ask if it's possible to upgrade to a more expensive model. If anything is doable, that will be. Once they've confirmed that you *can* change your mind, you're in a much stronger position to ask for the smaller sofa instead.
There is every chance that you'll lose the difference in price between the two though.0 -
Thanks all for replies.
I rang yesterday and they said I couldn't change my mind.
However I didn't really push it.
Genius idea about changing to a pricier sofa though. Will go in , in person tomorrow and see what happens.0 -
I would of thought you should be ok to select a smaller size as its only been 3 days and one of them was a bank holiday, but you need to be quick about it.:)0

The trick is, don't give them the impression you only asked to try and catch them out. That'll put them right on the defensive and probably won't get you anywhere. Umm and arr for a while around the various expensive options before announcing "Actually, I think I'll just switch to the smaller version of the one I've already got on order"
If you're prepared to forfeit the £20 difference (it's probably not worth the fight to get it back) casually drop that in at the same time.0
