She's great isn't she. She's admitted she's worry about it, but also understood that I need to sort it out myself.
So we are sitting down tonight with all our bills and stuff and curly wurly and a cup of tea or something. Sounds like fun!!Current debt - £16,300

Hi Lucy well done for telling your mum, you're a better person than me. I still cant bring myself to tell my parents, mainly coz I'm petrified that they are going to disown me!0

I was scared of that, but as an only child I risked it. But I feel better for it now.
But I really believe you need to make the decision on your own.Current debt - £16,300

Well done, your Mum, in a way, must feel proud that you were able to open up and tell her.
All upwards now!

good stuff Lucy,
Glad its out in the open and you can both move on.
The weight of the debt is bad enough let alone carrying more emotional baggage around with you as well.
You never know. Your Mum might even save some cash if she looks at this site and can save on some of her own outgoings. Maybe you could introduce to the wonderful world of MSE

Well we are going to look through both of our incoming and outgoings. She's not into computers so this might be a little beyond her, but I have a copy of Martin's book at home, so I might get her to read that.
I'm sure she could knock some money off her bills. But I feel much better for sharing it and her reaction was better than I thought it would be.Current debt - £16,300

That story made me happily teary. I told my mum about my debt last year and that I was going to deal with it myself. It was so scary but she has been a great support since. Thanks everyone. My Mum is great and I am very lucky to have her. I always knew this, but was worried she would be disappointed.
If it helps I cried, I don't understand how you ca tell Mum something like this and they simply say, "I'll love you no matter what you do"

i'm so pleased she was supportive. If you can get home first and make tea that would be a nice gesture. My heart is saying why don't you buy a nice treat like a cake each to have with a cuppa while you go through it all but thats not very money saving! Anyway you get the idea.
Well done on biting the bullet.0
