Pcn

Hi, I'm looking for a bit of advice please. I've recieved a PCN from a company called Parking Control Management for £100 or £60 if I pay within 14 days. I was on private property and did pull into a parking space but I was only dropping somebody off, I never at any point left my car or turned the engine off (if that makes a difference). As soon as I pulled up someone was there taking a picture! You can see me clearly in the photo sat in my car. The charge seems ridiculous. From what I can make out I can and should just ignore it but I feel nervouse..........any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Unless this was in Scotland, then I say appeal it and then if rejected, appeal it to POPLA. You will win if you word it right.

The BPA Code of Practice gives a driver a grace period to decide whether to stay and park, having read the signs. Clearly this didn't happen so POPLA should find in your favour and that will stop all the debt collector letters and cost PCM money as well.

See this thread and advice from Guy's Dad about the grace period:

You can also ignore instead, it's still an option (as long as you are the registered keeper who will receive all the letters) but involves ignoring lots of scary debt collector letters and might leave you jumpy and wondering if they might try a small claim (very very unlikely). But I think PCM are ex-clamper goons and it would be very nice to cost them money to fund a POPLA appeal which they will lose. So to do that you have to appeal to PCM first:

HTH. If you go for the challenge route then come back when you get your rejection letter and we'll help word the POPLA appeal. :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thank you for help. I will start my appeal with PCM :)
