If you notice on the OR income/expenditure it asks for child benifit even though thats not classed as countable income .Official DFW NERD 189

isnt 45 quid a week a lot for someone on 16k+ a year?

If you go to https://www.entitledto.co.uk and input basic details for a single adult, with one child, no added frills and an annual income of £16500, the tax credit award is @£45 per week. As shown below.
Period:06/04/2007-05/04/2008 annual £ weekly £
Initial Tax Credit award for period: £2,359.50 £45.13
Working Tax Credit: £0.00 £0.00
Child Tax Credit: £2,359.50 £45.13
Final Tax Credit award for period: £2,359.50 £45.13
Working Tax Credit: £0.00 £0.00
Child Tax Credit award: £2,359.50 £45.13
