People across Greater Manchester are set to be the first across the country to claim a new disability benefit – the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) – which is designed to support disabled people to live independent lives.

It all starts now I suppose....

Is it a problem?0

For those who receive Lower Rate Care, which is being abolished, yes.
Not only specific to LRC. Those with any rate of DLA are all in the firing line for losing everything or being downgraded.
I have HRM & MRC and based on the PIP descriptors I would be lucky to get the standard rate for care only!!
Very much like ESA, it is descriptor based and will concentrate on what your disability allows you to do, unlike DLA that looked at what you can't do.
People have had months to prepare for this new benefit by looking at different ways they could cope without DLA/PIP.0 -

So, an improvement then.0 -
no one can say what will happen until the system is up and running. yes, we know the descriptors but until they are actioned there is no telling how the points will actually be awarded.
in paper, it looks like i would be one of thise that could actually gain from the changes, but as i said..... until they system is running, no one can say what will happen0 -

You should get a award of the mobilty componant of PIP but which depends on wether you have proof of your blindness or not, your daughter can benefit regardless as she could get half rate road tax on tha family car to visit you.
That would be illegal though since she her fasmily car is not used at all to make your life easier.0
