Responding to private buyers leaflets through the door?

Just had a leaflet pushed through the door saying something like "Hi, I'm Chris. I'm looking to buy a property in this area. Happy to pay full asking price."
"Chris" had to walk past the "For Sale" sign to post this in the letterbox
I appreciate Chris may have employed someone to deliver these leaflets, but surely Chris can look on Rightmove and see our house.
Landline and mobile on the leaflet - what scam is there, or should I give him a call?

:money:My standard advice to any buyer or seller is buy a prepaid or month2month phone and chip just for buying and selling. It controls buyers and agents interfering with your normal numbers at all hours and calling at work.
And a measure of protection against scammers and burglars.Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.
Actively hunting down the person who invented the imaginary tenure, "share freehold"; if you can show me one I will produce my daughter's unicorn0 -
I would also ask your non selling neighbours if they had the same leaflet.0

I think Chris wants to knock off the asking price at least what you would be paying the agent for selling your houseNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Quite a few people post here asking about posting these sorts of notes to houses on streets they're interested in, it's not necessarily a scam although the fact that they ignored the for-sale sign would make me a little apprehensive but like you say it could have been out-sourcing.0

I had a similar leaflet put through my door some years ago. The person had to pass a "SOLD" sign to do it. If the leafleter is just told to leaflet a street, I think they just obey orders.0

The bigger worry is that they case the home for theft. Details omitted for obvious reasons, I know a case where it was known that a person was leaving their block and movers came and stripped the flat and turned out to be thieves who had targeted an area and did this several times.
